:the institute of wonder

The world shall not perish for want of wonders, but from want of Wonder..............
J.B.S. Haldane

The Institute of Wonder is a venue for exploration and inquiry into the exotic territories that exists between art and science. The marvels of the earth, the heavens, plant and animal life, deep oceans and the distant stars are some of the themes and sources of inspiration open to our investigation.

The Institute takes as its model and emblem the form of a chambered Nautilus. From this motif we strive to imitate its organic, harmonic and poetic organization proposing to define and reveal ourselves bit by bit, fragment by fragment as we grow.. Emerging analogically, the institute will uncover and accumulate hybrid forms composed of text, video, essays, articles and images. Works which navigate the ephemeral boundaries between subjects and disciplines are of special interest.

It should be noted that due to unpredictable climatic and geographic conditions the actual location of the Institute in its physical form is, at present subject to extreme isomorphism.Under such unusual and curious circumstances both the Institute, its members and journal can appear ambiguous, volatile and somewhat capricious in nature. Some may experience feelings of extraordinary disorientation caused by shifts and tectonic liveliness between previously rigid and clearly defined territories. All the confusion and unpleasantness of such unsettling  events will be soothed by the curative effects of deep exposure to Wonder.
